Involvements:
I grew up on the streets Brooklyn Park, MN in a very strong Christian home. I joke that the first words I said were the prayer of salvation--there was never a time in my life when I wasn't following Christ, and if you would have asked me when I was 5 years old ,"What do you want to be when you grew up?" I would have told you a Pastor. My view of what of pastor is has drastically changed since then, but the dream is still the same.
I first found out about Substance when Pastor Peter spoke at one of my chapels in high school. I went to check out his church on the U of M campus in December of 2005. I knew from the first service I went to that this was going to my home.
After high school I went to the prestigious North Hennepin Community College to do most of my generals. I stopped going to college to find out if full time ministry was really something I wanted to do for the rest of my life, so I began interning at Substance. I interned for two years and in the summer of 2011 accepted a position on staff.
A wise man once said, "Get paid for what you are passionate about, and you will never work again."
And that’s how I feel about my job at Substance. I am so thankful that I am supported to do what I love most, leading people and developing systems that change their lives.
What I love most about working at Substance is the people I get to rub shoulders with. Not just the amazing staff that Substance has, but the incredible volunteers. We have so many phenomenal servant leaders that create and define the culture of our church. I also love getting to work side-by-side with the interns. And there is never a dull moment when you work for Pastor Mark!
When I am not at the church, I love playing sports! Mostly snowboarding, volleyball and weight lifting.
